Temps expected to be in the upper 30's to mid 40's this week in Illinois, so what's left of the snow around here should be gone. I'll be in TN mid week, where and when it's expected to be mid 60's to lower 70's.

Dim by how much? If it's just really slight I wouldn't be too concerned but if more than that it could be a sign of a problem with the charging system. Could be as simple as bad grounds, to something bigger like a bad battery or alternator

I have used the power side of the ballast resistor. You can run a wire over to the starter relay as well.
