    1965 Dodge 383 Fuel Boiling

I believe to have gotten the problem sorted out. I rerouted the fuel line away from any heat sources and the issue seems to have disappeared, as for the black smoke, that was fixed by the idle mixture adjustment I mentioned in my previous thread. I have been unable to really test this solution...

    1965 Dodge 383 Fuel Boiling

The fuel filter is in front of the motor right up against the engine block, I will post a picture of its location tomorrow.

    1965 Dodge 383 Fuel Boiling

When the engine gets hot it will start to bog down under acceleration. When I open the hood, I can see the fuel bubbling inside my fuel filter. As this is happening, the fuel level visible inside the filter is also dropping. What is the best solution here? A bigger fuel pump to keep the lines...

1965 Dodge 383 Motor Bogging Down Under Hard Acceleration

I found the problem, the fuel is boiling in the lines. I am making a new post for this issue.

1965 Dodge 383 Motor Bogging Down Under Hard Acceleration

I went to verify the tuning on the carburetor, and realized that I had the mixture screws about 3 turns from where it starts to lean out, I am going to take it for a drive and get back to you on the results. That might have fixed it. On my old carburetor the plugs were a perfect tan color and...

1965 Dodge 383 Motor Bogging Down Under Hard Acceleration

Spark is good, coil voltage is 13-14V. The car does spit some black smoke from the exhaust when the throttle is applied though. Probably just running rich.

1965 Dodge 383 Motor Bogging Down Under Hard Acceleration

I will check the metering rod in the carb, it is in great condition though. The distributor is in good condition, the ignition system is a Pertronix Ignitor II with the Flamethrower II coil, I will confirm voltage and spark soon and get back to you. I can easily duplicate the bogging by...

1965 Dodge 383 Motor Bogging Down Under Hard Acceleration

I posted recently about a similar issue I was having with my car, possibly the same one. Since then, I have replaced the fuel pump pushrod, verified the function of my fuel pump, and installed an Edelbrock AVS2 650 (Which runs perfectly). The issue no longer occurs when normally accelerating up...

    1965 383 Carburetor Recommendations

Thank you so much for your help, that just saved me a ton of money and hassle!

    1965 383 Carburetor Recommendations

I had spoken with someone from Edelbrock a while back and was told I needed the full Lokar throttle linkage and kickdown cable conversion kit. If this isn't accurate, I would love to save the $250 that costs. Also, what Edelbrock linkage adapter? They have a couple different ones.

    1965 383 Carburetor Recommendations

How hard is wiring the electric choke on my car? The original carb only had a vacuum/spring operated choke. I will probably just get the manual choke though, since it rarely gets cold enough where I live to need the choke.

    1965 383 Carburetor Recommendations

Alright. I won't have to upgrade when the motor has a performance cam and heads? If not, then that's definitely the route I will be taking as I thought 800CFM might be a bit much. I wish they made a 700/750 version.

    1965 383 Carburetor Recommendations

I have recently discovered that my car's original Stromberg WWC 2-Barrel is leaking horribly from multiple non-repairable locations. So it is time to buy a new carb. The motor has an Edelbrock Performer intake manifold and a Pertronix Ignitor II ignition. In the near future, it will be getting...

1965 Dodge Polara w/ 383 Losing Fuel While Driving

Just found the issue, my fuel pump pushrod was worn. Once replaced the carb started getting the proper amount of fuel, which it then leaked all over the intake manifold. Time for a new carb I guess. Thanks so much to everyone who helped me out with this!

1965 Dodge Polara w/ 383 Losing Fuel While Driving

The tank I have has 2 vents, 1967 received a smaller gas tank in a slightly different shape. You can make them fit, but its not worth it when you can buy the correct tank. The photos are of the different ends of the tank, it fills from behind the license plate so the filler neck goes in a...

1965 Dodge Polara w/ 383 Losing Fuel While Driving

I have a Comp Cams fuel pump pushrod that I will go ahead and install to see if it clears up the issue. I have checked all of soldered areas of the carb for leaks as that was my first thought as to what would cause the gas smell. Good to know about ethanol eroding them though. The carb is a...

1965 Dodge Polara w/ 383 Losing Fuel While Driving

The way I am assessing that the carb has run completely out of fuel is that the accelerator pump will not squirt any fuel when this has happened. The fuel tank and sending unit are less than a month old and should be working fine, I will still try running without the gas cap though. Would...

1965 Dodge Polara w/ 383 Losing Fuel While Driving

No visible emissions of any color while driving. Under normal conditions, the car starts without any pedal applied just like a late model car. Pedal down never produces good results with this car, the only way to start it is with no throttle applied. Pumping the gas before starting does not...

1965 Dodge Polara w/ 383 Losing Fuel While Driving

How would I check for this? I am fairly new to working on carburetors. I had the carb professionally rebuilt by a Mopar mechanic who used to build small-block drag racing motors. I feel like it would have been set up correctly.

1965 Dodge Polara w/ 383 Losing Fuel While Driving

A few days ago, I finally got my car timed correctly and it runs great. But there is a problem I have not been able to figure out. After hard acceleration, or accelerating normally up a hill the car will run out of fuel at the carb. It has a new gas tank, sending unit, fuel pump, and all fuel...
