My new leaf springs are installed

Thanks. And yes I was able to find the passenger side lens, and it was really the only side I needed. It was used but in really good shape off e bay and the best part was it only cost me $25.00

My new leaf springs are installed

Where did you get your springs? I have a 66 300 with original springs that could stand to be replaced. Just curious what it may cost?

    Slight Knock/Ping

Thanks Moper. So what I am hearing you say is that jetting COULD have an impact on the pinging I am experiencing? I had all but dismissed this as a possability and was resigned to increasing the octane of my fuel, and timing. I just had this conversation with my buddy again today and told him...

    Slight Knock/Ping

Thanks Commando this mixture mirrors others I have seen. I am still going to try to back the timing back a bit more, that and the added octane or some combination will get me close. Thanks again to all.

    Slight Knock/Ping

Yes using 92 octane which is the highest octane I can find locally.

    Slight Knock/Ping

One last thing I read was you can add toulene to 92 octane and get an octane boost. Any confirmation to this and at what ratio?

    Slight Knock/Ping

Thanks to all. I know for sure the head gasket was .040 as I installed it. At the time I was on the fence about going thicker but that is what I have. I dont really want to dismantle it just to go a little thicker on the gasket, even though I know it would have a benefit. As for using higher...

    Slight Knock/Ping

OK back again for free advice. After I rebuilt my 383 and got all the bugs worked out she is running really good with one small exception. When I really jump on it and accelerate moderately hard there is a ping/knock. I backed off the timimg to the 10-11 degree range and it mostly went away...

    Another Carb Question

I have the shop manual and the guys at my local NAPA love me, I bought quite a few items there and they are super helpfull. I have the rebuild kit on order and one of they guys who works at NAPA tells me it is pretty straight forward so we are going to get together drink some beers and rebuild...

    Another Carb Question

Thanks for all the input. I actually called the Edelbrock help line to ask them and was suprised when the guy told me to use a 1405 and then add the electrick choke to it. He told me the rods and jets were different than that of the 1406. Said the 1406 would run a bit lean for the 383 and it...

    Another Carb Question

I am sure the carb questions are getting tiresome but here is another. My 66-300 just got the eng and trans rebuilt and got her running and back on the road. But my carb is a mess, its a 4131S and boggs down and wants to stall out when accelerating. Carb looks original. I have been looking...

    Normal Operating Temperature?

Thanks to ALL. Had her running this weekend and took her out for her first drive since the rebuild. Everything seemed to be good, and after getting it timed rght the temp held steady at 190, for a good hour, even parked it and left it running 15 or so minutes stayed steady 190. Thanks again...

    Normal Operating Temperature?

Thanks Rex. I was under the same impression that 180 was the T stat spec and an engine would typically run 5-15 deg hotter. I have yet to actually drive the car, and do need to get the timing right. I am not sure I even have a problem just the temp climbed during the cam burn in. We have had...

    Dash Pad Repair/Replace?

Thanks guys much appreciated. I was not eager for the filler route just curious about it. When time and $$$ permit I will go this route.

    Normal Operating Temperature?

Yes sir block was dipped, and was exceptionally clean, I dont think thats the issue. When I pulled the engine the radiator was shot I could not even get it recored it was beyond help. I ordered a new one from Rock Auto and the item that came looked to be an exact replacement in all respects...

    Dash Pad Repair/Replace?

Guys the interior of my 66-300 is in really good shape. I had some minor tears and foam repaired at a local shop at a reasonable price. The only wart is my dash pad has a gnarly crack right in the middle with about a 1/4 seperation. 3 questions. Is there a place to order a new one at a...

    Normal Operating Temperature?

Thanks Commando. But I thought the 180 deg thermostat was simply the opening point where it would circulate, not necessarialy the operating temperature at the temp sensor. But I defer to your greater knowledge, and now must try to figure out why I am running so hot. I was concerned when...

    Normal Operating Temperature?

Hello again to all. After installing my rebuilt 383 in my 66-300 it took quite a while before I could get her started. Bad starter relay, fuel pump among other of murphys gremlins conspired against me but today was the day she finally fired. I let her run at the suggested RPM range to break...

Reverse Threads on Driver's side, i know rookie mistake

Just so I am clear, as I have not yet removed the tires from my 1966 Chrysler 300. Am I to understanbd that on the drivers side they used LH thread lugs? I honestly had NO IDEA this was the case. Lefty Tighty, Righty Loosy? Is that the case for ALL? I have a shop manual and can find nowhere...

    Will it Fit?

Thanks to everyone. I took the advise of Commando and jacked up the rear end and within 45 minutes I had the engine and tranny stuffed and bolted in place. Now I just need to get all the piece parts in place and fire it up. Hope to be driving her again by the 4th of July. Thanks again.
