Darn so I guess all the other stuff I bought from rockauto wont work as well? Wheel cylinders, adjusting screw, spring/retainer kit, e brake cables. :( I found a local guy that has backing plates of a dana 60 (he says they will work on the 8 3/4 with the 2.5 brake shoes. He wants $200 includes...

    rear shoes for 1968 polara 2" ?

yes i ordered everything new wheel cylinders, shoes, adjusting screws, spring kit, and e brake cable. At this point it's probably best to find a proper backing plate from that'll accommodate all this new stuff. Very frustrating. C'est la vie!

    rear shoes for 1968 polara 2" ?

So I recently installed a 8 3/4 rear end out of a 1968 polara into my sons 1956 Custom Royal it needed new brakes so I ordered some from rockauto. I could not find any 11 x 2 shoes so I went with some that were listed as not for heavy duty brakes but they did not list the shoe size. The shoes...

1956 dodge questions what do I have?

Ok well at least it seems to be matching year anyway. Cool old car my kid found though. We got a very complete record of it. Original owners name, second and third owner, rebuilt in 84. Lot of history very solid car. Better shape than my 68 barracuda. Heck it's in better shape than a lot of cars...

1956 dodge questions what do I have?

My son's car is a 1956 dodge (custom royal)? We are trying to decipher what it was called. We have for a model name d63-3-4door. The original owner said it had either a 331 or 354. But in 1976 the engine had head gasket problems. It sat 8 or 9 years when the motor was replaced. Now has a super...

    Pre 1957 rear ends?

Powerflite it is. So a bit of research on the rear end, from what I gather they had 8 3/4 rears prior to 1957. They just weren't the 8 3/4 we all know from post 57? Quick research has got me this far. It should have a rear end that I believe has an 8 3/4 carrier, the drums are somehow pressed...

    Pre 1957 rear ends?

Hello everyone, brand new here. Came over from for a bodies only, as my son has bought himself a 1956 custom royal. Two questions. Very first question what type of rear ends did Chrysler use prior to 1957 when the 8.75 came out. His 1956 came with a 315 poly, and an automatic. Also what...

    Welcome Restomoder to FCBO!

Hi everyone, my son just bought his first car. He is 16 years old. A '56 dodge Custom Royal. I will help him as much as I can. I was steered to for c bodies only from someone at for a bodies only. His car is pretty darn solid, it's a 4 door with a 315 poly? and a push button automatic. Should...
