No sweat, that's what I'm using now to find the leak in my 68. It doesn't deplete the ozone (CFC free) and it requires less. Be sure to read the notes, 6oz of R12a = 17oz of CFC-R12. So if your total system capacity is 3lbs of CFC-R12, that's essentially 18oz of R12a.

You can get (and use) R12a online. Much cheaper to get than CFC-R12. FrostyCool 12a Refrigerant "18 oz Equivalent" - 1 case (12x cans) Replacement for R134a

    Hello C body brothers

I just had brand new drums, shoes, cylinders, and lines put on 400 miles ago. Maybe time to revisit the shop.

    Hello C body brothers

I love my 18" wheels. With power drums, my pedal almost hits the floor as is to stop though. All new shoes, drums, lines, and bled out properly. I'm wondering if my booster is failing.

    Hello C body brothers

I already have power brakes, I would probably still need a different booster though.

    Hello C body brothers

Now if that only worked on a 68 'Port, I'd be happy.

Welcome, from Eastern NC! I'm intrigued by the name, have you actually put one of those "things" in a C-Body?

Well, these pictures have convinced me to strike Utah off the map of places to live. That thick white dust is no fun.

In the mega-rare chance that they are 15's (which I'll know on Saturday) I'll let you know. Chances are the wheels that are on it now won't stay long.

I believe the wheels are 14".

    Welcome aFatGuyWithGuns to FCBO!

I already made my mind up, just can't get there til the snow clears. I also asked 67 to kill his post, so it doesn't increase the chances of it getting bought out from under me before Saturday.

A couple more pics... Now I'm getting a little more than excited. If the "Gold Member" logo appears next to my name on Saturday, that means I have the car. I don't even have a C-body yet, but read through the forums quite a bit before joining, and even if I never get one, you all seem like a...

    Welcome aFatGuyWithGuns to FCBO!

Well, I just got feedback from my buddy who checked it out. He went out of his way to check the car out for me, and decided to go out of his way to complain about how he had to walk through 15" of snow to get to the guy's separate garage. The feedback: There is some rust in the trunk, of...

I just got off the phone with the seller, and he said it still has R-12 in the system, but that the compressor did stop kicking on this summer- he hasn't tried to recharge it. I'm hoping it's still R-12 in there myself. I have a local friend on his way to go see the car and look it over with a...

    Welcome aFatGuyWithGuns to FCBO!

Thanks for all the input! Saturday is when I'm supposed to go get the car, it's a 4 hour drive (one way) so I have a friend who lives only 20 mins from the car going to check it out in the next couple days. I've seen a picture of the engine bay on this thing, and it looks cluttered with all the...

Thanks for the tip! I'll have to bring a mirror along, or have my wife do the crawling. She's a spry little thing, and I'm just too rusty myself to get in the trunk.

Really? I figured it was probably on par for an old sled of this size. So check the subframe under the car, inline with where the front seats are. Got it. Anything else I should look for as a known-issue for these cars? Here's a pic of the rust in the trunk. I guess it is a little worse than...
