    I’m an idiot

Man I almost spit out my Pepsi reading this LOL. I did this a few times already with some other small PITA parts to find. Most recently (I swear even after looking in this same spot many times) I found the little sway bar end links / clamps that hold the sway bar to the strut rods (IIRC.) I was...

    I’m an idiot

Well 3 years ago when I pulled the motor on Nebula (believe it or not my car has a name LOL) I put a box together full of engine parts such as all the brackets and pulleys etc etc. For the LIFE of me I can’t seem to find a few small pieces and it’s driving me nuts. I’m about to mock up the...

Carb Cheater - Auto Tune a Carburetor!

Awesome! I’m also on the FB group, wish I could’ve been one to get the tool, but my car doesn’t currently drive so it would’ve been a waste. Hopefully if it goes into further production I could get one. Such a cool idea

    2X4 Intake Carb Question

I’ve been on a kick lately… Normally I’m a record fiend. I’ve got tons and tons of rare Soul, Doo Wop and other miscellaneous 45s worth $$$. Now it seems my knack for finding stuff has crossed into the Mopar world… You may remember I scored these awesome 413 4 bolt valve covers not too long...

    Help Identifying Carter Carb

Since my car was sold new in CA, could I assume that it is the “Cleaner Air” package? I’m not sure how I’d even be able to tell really. It’s spent its entire life close to home, I bought her still sporting her Santa Barbara license plate frame.

    Help Identifying Carter Carb

Bingo! Found it… I’d say we were pretty close. Funny, my dizzy is actually from a 69 440 as well. Unintentional for that to match with the 69 Carter AVS.

    Help Identifying Carter Carb

That is great to know! The car is very happy with the Carter. Wonder how this 68 ended up with that carb. Perhaps it was a swap done at a dealer? I would like to make the choke function as it should, so I will investigate the proper gasket needed on this 68. Haven't driven the car yet, it's...

    Help Identifying Carter Carb

Thanks for the tips! Would you happen to know a part number for the OEM type gasket? The Edelbrock AVS II carb I got is rated at 650 CFM. I will inspect the carb base tomorrow and locate that carb number so I can get the right accelerator pump for this carb! Unfortunately there are no...

    Help Identifying Carter Carb

So I’ve been having issues time and again with the Edelbrock. Not so much the carburetor itself, it’s a BRAND new unit - what could even be so bad about it? Rather, it’s not entirely compatible with the factory intake. A number of folks helped me to realize that the throttle blades of the AVS...

She’s ALIVE! (again?!) - Engine Troubleshooting

Not smoking or doing anything bad as of yet lol. I did lean it way down and it doesn’t smell anymore but I need to do it with a vacuum gauge and see what’s up with it. Don’t know what pistons and rings are on it as someone else put it together for me. Santiago’s Engine in Oxnard CA.

She’s ALIVE! (again?!) - Engine Troubleshooting

As I mentioned above ^ the cam was indeed broken in. We ran it at 1,500-2,000 for 25 mins. The engine was just running pretty bad but at that point I didn’t want to shut it down and just made whatever adjustment I could to get it to run decent. You could be onto something with the floats. The...

She’s ALIVE! (again?!) - Engine Troubleshooting

So a while back I finally got the New Yorker running! Although it stayed running, I could tell it was running pretty rough - but any adjustments I tried making just made it really upset and so I decided to just let it run for the sake of the cam… Still, I knew there were problems that needed...

Did this starter just die on me?!

Finally got it! Still waiting on the terminal relocation kit. I knew it was a “mini” but I’m still surprised at how much smaller it is than the factory unit!

Did this starter just die on me?!

Tried that too :/ Same thing. Spins super fast then gets really tired very quickly. I’ll keep messing with it. Definitely not going to toss it, I may be able to open it up or replace the non era correct starter on the 62 with it in the future. I have my Dakota starter coming in today! The 68...

Did this starter just die on me?!

Definitely not a weak battery, the battery was fully charged. It’s weird, it’ll crank FAST (normal) for a few “tries.” Then, afterwards- it gets reallly slow.

Did this starter just die on me?!

This sounds much like what I’m experiencing here! This is the older “slow” spinning gear reduction starter. Given that it was acting like the battery was dead, it took a while for us to get the engine started. After trying it with 2 batteries, I think I’m just going to remove the old hummingbird...

Did this starter just die on me?!

Unsure of the battery being complete junk. It’s only 2 years old and as mentioned - was fully charged! I’m puzzled as to why it’s cranking as if it’s got no juice at all. Perhaps i did have too much timing. I don’t live where the car stays so I can only get to it once in a while. I’m just...

Did this starter just die on me?!

Not sure, the battery was fully charged (just pulled it off the battery charger.) Either the battery is junk, or I’ve got too much timing. I plan to reset my initial timing Next time I’m with the car. Aiming for -10

Did this starter just die on me?!

Welp, this is not a new issue. Ever since we wired up the car, this starter has been real funny! Even on a fully charged battery - it does this. It’ll spin normally, at good speed and spin the engine over effortlessly. Then, sometimes it just sounds like the starter is spinning and not engaging...
