Proper length for 68 Fury PS return line

Hey all, I'm still dinking around with this leaking power steering return line fitting but I see no reason for it to do so. The fitting and o-rings are new and the mating surface is clean and blemish free. Is there a standard length that I could've screwed up some of internal mojo with by...

Transmission fluid pool near valve cover

Thanks all, I had no idea green, sweet smelling antifreeze turns orange and odorless when sitting on a painted, slightly corroded surface. I dribbled a little more in that area and let it sit overnight and sure enough, it was completely orange/red. The entire puddle under the car was orange...

Transmission fluid pool near valve cover

Ugh, didn't smell like gas but gasoline and red paint does explain the color I guess. Will do immediately. Thanks guys.

Transmission fluid pool near valve cover

My uneventful water pump, etc. replacement last weekend appears to be a short term victory. Last night after a short trip to Napa I discovered a pool of transmission fluid from a weep hole (?) on top of the engine near the valve cover.. The FSM doesn't appear to mention this. Does anyone...

    68 Fury 318 - what is this?

Thank you all again for weighing in on this. Got the pump replaced today pretty easily and did another oil change just to be safe. No leaks and everything lined up perfectly. Was able to get the old girl stored across town at my brother's new garage while it was 65 degrees and sunny.

    68 Fury 318 - what is this?

Thank you! I'm going to replace the pump and then do an oil change as @Big_John suggested before I try starting it again. If it continues I'll let you know.

    68 Fury 318 - what is this?

It was definitely dripping - it left a spot on the cardboard which is what I noticed first and it's no longer wet or oily there but the spot remains. The oil itself doesn't smell like gas. I have a replacement on the way from RockAuto and it's only $30 so I'll just chalk it up to preventative...

    68 Fury 318 - what is this?

That's a good question - a bit out of my wheelhouse though.. I will say it started with a really rough idle, and when I pressed the pedal slightly to idle it down it shut off completely. I ended up having to let it rough idle until it smoothed itself out after a minute or so. I figured it was...

    68 Fury 318 - what is this?

Oh that's a relief, it's a Thanksgiving miracle that I don't have to be a mechanic this time. :) Thanks everyone for the quick input.

    68 Fury 318 - what is this?

Well crap, and I was so close to getting it stored across town for the winter too. Next question that I'm dreading the answer to: is a fuel pump something that I can just bolt a new one up and it's good to go or are technical adjustments needed? I am starting at zero knowledge.

    68 Fury 318 - what is this?

Hey All, I know I saw a pic of this somewhere here months ago but I never bookmarked it and I've looked through my searchable FSM but don't really know what I'm looking for. What is this thing below my alternator and is it supposed to leak around the top circular part? (maybe only in cold...

'68 Fury PS return control valve leaking

Thanks Barry, I have that kit on the way now. I can't let something just sit if it looks easy. :)

'68 Fury PS return control valve leaking

Thanks all, more clarification I'm hoping to just touch/replace the control valve body (it appears that the fitting/gasket/spring/piston) above it in the exploded diagram below come pre-installed on new ones. If the steering valve body is what requires the finer adjustments I'll make sure not...

'68 Fury PS return control valve leaking

Thanks! Glad I didn't just take it apart. I'll stock up on cardboard and tackle it in the spring.

'68 Fury PS return control valve leaking

That's what I'm hoping it is according to the picture.. The elbow that the low pressure hose connects to. If it's any more than that it'll have to wait til spring, and a professional.

'68 Fury PS return control valve leaking

When I had my mechanic fix a bunch of things this spring they left the power steering leak issues as an "that's easy enough you should be able to tackle it" thing. Unfortunately as evidenced in my other posts I think they greatly overestimated my abilities since I know how to change oil and...

'68 Fury 318 PS high pressure hose replacement

Oh I went to the Edelmann website from the ebay listing (Pressure Power Steering Hose 225 318 383 440 for Dodge Plymouth Chrysler Mopar | eBay) that shows the part as "EM 333 ps" and referenced it from there. NOS is great but I don't trust 50yo rubber either!

'68 Fury 318 PS high pressure hose replacement

Holy cow, that second one points to an Edelmann 70333 which is as close to absolute certainty as I've seen, and even mentions the federal style pump. Thank you!

'68 Fury 318 PS high pressure hose replacement

I'll chalk that one up to "ignorant proactiveness" as I could've sworn I read somewhere else on here that a filter was a good idea. Although the old one was only about an inch wide so I had to add some extra length to get this one to route properly without pinching.

'68 Fury 318 PS high pressure hose replacement

It's what Auto Zone had after I accidentally ripped the old one apart replacing the return hose. 3x the size, but should be good for 300k right? Or with my odometer, next spring. :)
