Ayilar's 1970 Polara Convertible

I am the third owner of this ER6 Red convertible. The first owner passed in 1977: the second owner bought it from his widow in 1977, and he stored it in 1985. He sold it to me many years later, and I put this Polara back on the road in Spring 2018.

That's pretty cool. Same color combo as my 69.

Did you turn it off with the wipers going or do they not retract anymore??? An old witch doctor showed me that if you turn off the power when they reach the highest point of their sweep you can stow them back in the hidden retracted position manually. It might take a few try's but you'll feel no resistance when you catch it just right. Hidden wipers are no fun if you can't hide 'em !!!! Cool ride enjoy it.

Thanks! That's the car as it a week ago exactly, after 32 years in storage and no starting. Have no idea why the wipers are where they are. The car is being gone through right now, engine turns but has not yet been started. I'll keep your trick in mind when we get to the wiper mechanism.

That looks like a solid convertible. Very nice car.
Thank you. The C-body specialist fixing the car for me just steam cleaned the underside, and the pictures he sent me are unbelievable -- no rust whatever!

The wiper motor does not work any more. That's one of the few things that needs replaced. If you have a recommendation, I am all ears.

Nice all original looking car! That would look so good with Road Wheels and the top down.
Thank you! I've thought about road wheels, but I feel that for the 318 they might "oversell" the car. The top should be coming down this weekend -- the weather looks like it's finally going to cooperate.
