My Chrysler Newport 1967

General Information

So, the 29th of April 2018 I finally fired up the rebuilt engine. Runs like a charm. The car came with a 400 from 76-78 which was leaky and tired. Managed to get a hold of a 383 block (as it should be in the original car) and I have now equipped it with:
- Cylinder heads from 440-source (stealth)
- KB pistons (KB 162)
- Summit K6400 cam
- Ignition module MSD 6A

Soon it is time to cruise again :)

I can't remember the name of the person who restored the car in the US, as it's been quite some time since I was last in contact with him. He bought the car from Maddox Vintage in Commerce City Colorado. Maddox Vintage was a classic car dealer/junk yard that sold a bit of everything but focused more on Chrysler products. They recently closed down the automotive part of the business, but continue to be a propane dealer. The car was in pretty decent shape when purchased from Maddox, a typical western car with minimal or no rust, needing paint and interior work. It did not have a vinyl top at the time, which I believe was added during the restoration. It's funny that it ended up in Sweden, because the reason I requested info on the car when it was for sale in the US was for my friends in Sweden who import and sell Chryslers. They decided to pass on the car because they mostly sold convertibles, and didn't think that they could make a profit on the coupe. There's probably more information about the car somewhere on the DryDock website, but it might be hard to find it. Jeff
Is this the same car. It for sure looks like it. You can also see the Maddox sign in the back ground.

Yes, that's it. The previous owner sent me the same picture.

Oh yes. Today I went through the annual vehicle inspection with zero remarks. This means that this was the last inspection ever. Here in Sweden, from last year, all vehicles that are more than 30 years old don't need this any more. Everything went well and the guy who performed the inspection was mighty impressed. Cruising time :)

Wow! Gorgeous!

My mother's daily driver was an Arctic Blue '67 Newport 2-dr that my parents bought in July 1970 - from Roger Mauro. My brother and I inherited it in 2008; sadly it wasn't feasible for either of us to keep it.

Mom and I had our differences, but not so much with automobiles: she was absolutely "Mopar or no car."

I totally agree with your mother - "Mopar or no car" :)

Gorgeous looking car. Love the gold with white. Great combo. Interesting story with the engine. Glad you have a correct one now. I know someone who has a 68 Newport Custom 4-door survivor. Two thumbs up:thumbsup:
