1955 Desoto Diplomat

this is a rare export Desoto.
Looks completly different than any US built version.
It is actually a Plymouth with a few cosmetics.

i owned a 55 desoto and the only thing about that car that resembles a 55 desoto is the grille. that is it.

Its an export model based on a 1955 Plymouth body with certain trim to delineate it as a Desoto. The grille is similar to the USA one but is not the same - American grille has 7 teeth this has 9. I have covered this earlier in another thread - export models for the countries that couldn't afford the full model but were already using the Plymouth frame. Lots of history behind these weird and wonderful offshoots of MA Mopar
