1966 Dodge Monaco 383

Loaded the 727 into the charger yesterday and washed it off at a car wash, seemed to only loosen up a bit of the grime. So, today I scrubbed it for a couple hours with the help of mr clean and it's looking way nicer. Could use some more scrubbing though. You can see how grimy it was in post #12

I’ve been working on the 727 for a little while and as I await the arrival of a new front clutch spring retainer I thought I’d start up on some steering and interior work. Dropped the old steering box with some unnecessary brute force, threw the new one in and pulled the rear seat bottom. I wont mod the steering column or do any under dash work until I have the floor squared away. That starts tomorrow

Noticed I never showed the Monaco after we manipulated it around on the sloped driveway and backed it into the stand alone 3rd garage spot that’s been occupied by clutter since we moved out west 6 yrs ago. Here it is. Also, I painted the floor yesterday. Trunk is real nice and I can’t decide if I want to lose the rear back rest and paint all the way through or not. Probably wont.

Crank in, painted thru to trunk. Felt wrong leaving it half done. Light catches weird and makes that section look unpainted but it is. Also another charger coming to our driveway soon :)

Forgot to add the steering box and intermediate shaft install with the Dorman 31002 (two of em).

Here’s the new Charger too. Proper name is 2020 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody Daytona 50th Anniversary Edition. We just call it the hellcat, lol. It’s and absolutely phenomenal vehicle and is leagues apart from the SXT that we're also keeping. Might make a thread on it to just upload nice pics and do some updates.

Nice progress. How long til you think it will be moving by under it's own power? I'm getting anxious.

Heads should be back from Duane Porter next week, I’ll have the rotating assembly done this weekend. Things are shaping up pretty quick. I better be driving it by the end of July.

Been laboring away on sound deadening and carpet the past week in the scorching Az sun at temps above 110. Today was overcast and gave me the drive to finish it all up. It’s frickin beautiful, so happy with it. Put it the old rear seat and newly upholstered front seat. Covers Plus did great on it.

I’m so happy I kept the PO’s incorrect black seats, wheel, etc. Love the red and black. Considering making the belts red, but that might be a little much.
