I need a 1966 Imperial fuel gauge. Mine indicates only up to 5/8-full and stops there.

Anyone have a fully-functional gauge for sale? Or, does anyone know a quality gauge rebuilder that doesn't have a year backlog that can do the job?

Have you tried grounding (quickly, like 2 seconds at a time, while observing the gauge, with the key on) the wire that is on the sending unit? You SHOULD see the gauge sweep the rest of the way to full. It may take 3 or 4 tries. Back when I had my shop I would do this on my bench, before installing a used gauge / cluster. There were quite a few that would eventually work correctly.

This definitely sounds like more of a sending unit calibration issue.

Everything is new - tank, sending unit, and seal. The gauge reads exactly as it did with the previous original sending unit.

I'll give the grounding-the-sending-unit a shot and will report what happens.

Here are a few photos.
Sorry, we no longer get the newspaper.
