Hello I am a new member, and have just purchased a 1966 New Yorker 2Dr.
600 miles west in Denver Co. And am planning to haul it home this weekend
in an enclosed trailer 28ft.X 8.5ft. with (and here is the catch) fender wells
inside of the trailer 80in. apart that stand 14in. above the floor.
The specs that I find for the car all say 79.5in. width
But I am not sure if that is body width, or rear view mirror width.
Any help with the true width measurement of the lower body line would be greatly appreciated.
And may save me a trip to the lumber yard for 300 board feet of 2X12s.
Cheers radialwrench

Welcome. That is the width at the widest part without the mirrors. That will be at the upper trim on the edges of the fenders and doors. If the trailer is 8'6" you shouldn't have a problem. You don't need the 2x12 the full length. 4 pieces about 2' long will do. Once the car is almost in place, lay the boards down in front of each wheel and drive or pull the car up onto them.

Thanks for the Info, and prompt reply.Much appreciated.
Hopefully the trip out and back goes that easily.

We'll want to see pics when you get it home or sooner.
Welcome to the site from the Motor City!

I had to Google that and it only made me feel old.
