Interesting thing about the tire - I searched but can find NOTHING about Stratton-brand tires. I wonder if that's a bias or radial tire. Here's one of my rims before I had my Hankook's mounted to it:

had bias ply bfg 's on it when i got it. bought the radial Stratton super steels back in June 1987 and replaced them with the Hankooks almost 2 years ago do to age. the Strattons only had maybe 3 thousand miles on them took them off.

if my memory is correct i think the stratton tires was a b.f.goodrich cheaper brand.

That's the wider tire - wider than 8.25 x 14 yes? Or is it a taller tire - same width?

Does the 8.55 tire come on (does it fit properly) the 5.5 inch rims?

My experience tells me the 8.55 was installed on 14x6 rims.
8.25 on 5.5 rims.
The 8.55 is wider and TALLER than 8.25.

Seen this before where the trunk trim was on a base 67 Newport.
The trim was optional on base.

8.55 ~ H78 series width ~ P225 - P235 in today's world.

The parts book says 6" rim for 8.55.
