Any ideas what would cause the brake system light to flicker and stay on? It goes out sometimes and then comes back on. I have brakes so Im not sure what could be causing this.

As said above.
After that,, check to see if E-brake is fully released.

Agreed! My e-brake nut constantly works itself loose and the light comes one. I have to get under the dash and tighten it. Been saying for 12 years I'm going to replace it. It did it again last week when I was driving. D'oh!

Thought I did? Someone offered a possible reason why the light is flickering on and I agreed, having had the same problem. Where's the issue?

Wire to brake switch grounding/ rubbing causing light to come on. Similar to when oil light switch wire pops off and grounds flashing oil light scaring the crap out of you.

UPDATE....sorry life got in the way to post a reply... The brake system needed bled. Light is out and everything works fine.
