The rocker moulding on my 67 is painted in some places, not in others. On the driver's side it is painted from the short piece behind the front wheel (which isn't painted) to the short piece in front of the back wheel (on the skirt) which does show evidence of paint. Passenger side not painted, but it was. Neither rear quarter section show any evidence of paint. I assume it was all painted and someone has removed it. That would be obvious. Just was curious if for some reason they didn't paint the rear quarter sections.

Where you don't now see paint, there was paint originally. IN the grooves on a Newport.

FWIW, the Newport and New Yorker rocker panel trim is the same piece, just painted differently. In the Newport, the paint is IN the grooves, leaving the raised areas to be shiny. On the NY, the paint is on the raised areas with the grooves not painted.

The OEM paint is a satiny black, not a hard-shine black. Like the satin black the engine brackets, black air cleaners, and such are painted, which some car wax will make shine and protect.

Enjoy!
