I recently picked up this '64 Newport, it was a couple hours away but it was pretty cheap. The guy said it was headed for the derby, so I grabbed it. It has a 361 and pushbutton.

The cool thing is a ton of original paperwork was in the glove box including the original purchase receipt from Andresen Motors in Seattle, the original build sheet, the first insurance they purchased in October of '63, and a bunch of other cool history.

Options include:
Basic Group - Radio, heater, power steering, power brakes, light package
Safety group - padded dash, windshield washer, variable speed wipers, remote mirror, glareproof windshield
Torqueflite 3 speed
Front & rear Airfoam seats
Electric clock
Tinted front window
Rear bumper guards
Wheel covers (they're in the car)
Anti freeze
Hood moulding
8.00 x 14 2 ply tires

They also had the dealership install front seat belts
Total of $3955.90

It was painted at some point, the clear is peeling off. It also has a dual master and a Pertronix in the distributor. But last plated in 1998.

The fellow's name was Virgil, how fitting. Insurance papers say he was an engineer for the US Army. Car was bought new in Seattle, then imported to Canada when they moved to Ladysmith, BC.

That WILL be a great looking car with a bit of fixing!! I always liked that body style. To find a Newport that is not a 4-dr sedan is great, too! Style with economy.

Please keep us posted on your activities with the car.

Enjoy!

70DartMike,
You should name him “ Second Chance “ ….

On this Memorial Day in the United States,
I wonder if that Virgil is still among us…….
Craig……

It definitely wants to be saved, with a little bit of tinkering it flashed up right away. Interior is cleaning up nicely. This one has a lower dash pad, was that normal?

What a great find ,nice color that will fix up nice and look super

Yes, great save. Seeing the window sticker and your notes, I hope you will post pix of the Track Sheet & Fender Tag. I will process them and post a decode report at no charge, ever. I need this rare correlation to test my decoder. Samples below.

Great looking 64, in way better shape than the 64 i've been working on, and off, and on again for the last 20 years. Look forward to seeing your progress.

Weird, I thought I had posted an update, guess not.

Anyways,

I got the BC regi after doing the lost regi search, it had none when I bought it. Last registered in 1998 by a Jeffrey Larry in Victoria. He's either passed or moved on, it came back unopened. It's in my name and I've been driving it around town.
Someone put Pertronix in it, but it was intermittently failing so I put points back in. Did all the brakes, fuel system, carb, ignition, some minor electrical, re bondo'd the bondo, put on 15" steel wheels with decent tires, and just did a huge clean up on it.
It's a sweet driver!!
