Just buying a 1970 Sport Suburban. I'm new to the Plymouth fuselage family. What is supposed to go on the blank spots (holes) on the hood. Looks like it's missing 383 badges possibly? Did these come with 440's?

The big holes are for hood mounted turn signal indicators. The smaller holes on the sides of the power bulges could have been for mounting either 383 or 440 tags. Look at the VIN, the 5th digit is the engine size indicator. T=440, 350 horse; U=440 (usually special order or police) 375 horse;L=383-2BBL, N=383 4BBL.

Sport Suburbans could not be had with the u-code 440 (only T-code 440) but a G-code 318.

Wow, thank you! I am new here and still learning how to navigate this site. I didn't see your response until now, lol. I appreciate your depth on this one. I am in the process of buying this car. I think they are super hard to find myself. It's been in the field for years and years. Still a bunch of the emblems are still there, I love the color, and the interior isn't too bad either. Any thoughts on what it's worth?

Where is the yard it's in? Looks like some good stuff.
 
First the pluses, car appears solid and pretty straight, and it has disc brakes, these are a relatively hard car to find in that condition. The minuses, there are quite a few. Windshield is broken. Brake MC is open, which means the brakes are trashed. It will need a new MC, all hoses and wheel cylinders/calipers at a minimum and most likely all steel lines as well. The radiator and A/C condenser are missing. Car is missing the stock tires and wheels. The A/C hoses have been cut which means the evaporator and compressor are likely corroded as well. Factory air cleaner is missing as are both rear tail lights. You are going to need a donor car to get this car back together.
Looks to be a 383 2BBL that is missing the distributor. The hole caused by the missing distributor is a potential entry point for critters to build a nest inside the engine, usually that will result in a seized engine and it looks like the hood insulation has some critter damage. You will likely find insulation inside the engine. Check the front seat foot wells for rust damage as they both show discoloration from water intrusion. Dash pad is cracked and that is about an $800 item to replace.
This will not be a cheap or easy car to restore and it would be one I would pass on as a restoration project. I would place a value on its current condition at about $750.

Copy that. Good insight. I appreciate it. It's way less of a project than my 300. I just can't let them get destroyed in a field. Well, more than they are when I find them. I have found the tail lights, wheels, and the AC parts on other cars in this field. Huge project either way. Engine will get rebuilt no matter. I just tought it would be cool to have the 300 coupe and (somewhat) matching wagon. Thanks again!

So the turn indicators were an option? Seems like most of the hood have a slight rise too them like a mock dual cowl induction but very few in photos have the holes or turn indicators., or even the engine badges.

It's up the farm fields by Idaho. Crazy stuff in this field. Cars I'd never seen before (not in person). I'm going to start buying things from it. Some farmer just got all the cars that died around his farm from the 50's on...

All of the '70 Fury's had the so called power bulge hood. The hood mounted turn signals were part of the optional light group package. Only the 383 and 440 got hood badges in '70.
