LISTING FOR A FRIEND: This 1970 Chrysler 300 has 102k miles. Runs and drives. Just doesn't have the room for it anymore. Has a 440 engine, needs a little bit of tlc. Has the big tow mirrors, spare tire, and original bumper jack. If you're interested please call her names carol. Give her a call and ask if you have any questions or want to look at it. Thanks

Although I never really understood, what is the point of a 4-door 300, I kind of like this. Nice!

Considering it's not detailed to the nines, the overall cleanliness suggests a well-cared-for car.
Although white is kinda boring, the burgundy compensates nicely.
VT looks good, I don't see any rust bubbles.
If that were local to me, at the $6500 asking price, some fleet changes might be in order.

And the person that wrote the ad knows how to read a 5-digit odometer - that's becoming a lost art.

It's a 4 door hardtop... Different animal from 4 door sedans.

If you look back at a lot of the cars from the 50's and 60's, you'll see a lot of 4 door hardtops in higher end cars. The 58 Eldorado comes to mind, complete with suicide rear doors.

A lot of people wanted a 4 door, but also wanted something that didn't look like a taxi. When you have a couple kids, it's a pain to get out and tip that seat forward to let them in or out. It's tough for some folks to get in and out of the rear seat of a 2 door also. Hauling my old butt out of a rear seat isn't as easy as it was 50 years ago.

One of my favorite 300s was a local guys maroon '68 with a white top. Just a really nice car and the color combo worked well with the 4 door hardtop. When he passed (over 30 years ago), the car went up for sale for a really reasonable price but I didn't hear about it until after it was sold, or I would have tried to buy it. I don't think I've seen a 4 door hardtop 300 in that color since then.

I know 4d hardtop well. My father bought one when I was seven years old, in May 1970. I took the photo then. He kept that car for 18 years. I drove it for many years.
My point was I did not - and do not - understand why Chrysler ever made a four door Three Hundred. Doing that, they diluted the brand image of it big time. Put a bench seat in it, and you double the diluting effect.

They had already diluted the brand image of the 300 in 1962.

Lucky me. Wrong coast otherwise this is one I would have made an exception for since I prefer the 66 and 67 body styles more. It would match up with my all white Polara. Fortunately the interiors in both make up for the blah white color.

Exactly. 62 was the first year for non-Letters, and also for 4-door 300s.
And sales jumped up significantly, with non-Letters outselling the other.
