Well I made 3 offers and all were declined and I thought I was into pretty high money for a non running car that will take a fair amount of $$ to get it to a reliable driver level. Guess this one is going to languish on ebay until he comes to his senses on its value. I would have been a little stronger if it was a slick top.

I saw this car today, and made him an offer which I thought was fair. The car needs a lot of wok to get it back on the road, but would be worth it after dumping $5K to $6K into it.

Did you see it in person? Or online? I was just curious as to what the smell was like in it if in person. I offered up to what that nice green 71 listed on kiji is listed for and that one is a running driving car! This one is cool for being TX9 but is that really worth a $5K bump??

In person. It about a 60 mile ride to Racine WI from my office.
Here's what I can tell you. Front and rear bumpers need re-chrome, interior is in great shape (no tears on the seats) but there is a small mouse hole in the head liner rear post/drivers side (with stain). Dash and gauges look good. Original radio with Wonder Bar foot control.
Unfortunately, it did stink. Other bads: rust on driver side rocker panel, rust on cowl where the wipers are located (the metal seemed soft, probably for sitting in a damp garage for 25 years)
Engine needs to be rebuilt. The Holley card was still packed with the mouse nest, and also smelled like something died in there. The engine turns part of the way when turning the crank, but then stops. Bent rod? Who knows? Not sure of the real condition of the engine nor was the seller. My concern was if the block was cracked after sitting in an unheated garage for 25 years in Wisconsin winters.

I offered $3K and it got declined pretty quick. Maybe he'll relist the car with a BIN of $9K?

I told him his BIN was a great price - for a sharp, running and driving car with little or no needs.

Sounds to me I am GLAD he did not accept my offer as I would have been in over my head at $4500 plus the cost to repair and replace all that along with the other things like gas tank and lines, brakes, and usual stuff from sitting. If it had soft metal on the cowl that scares me too. Plus the SMELL!! Did it look like it was resprayed at one point?

You don't have to answer if you don't want to but I am curious as to what you offered in person that he turned down since you could actually SEE what was wrong with it. But now I am GLAD to have "missed" out on it!!

After spending about an hour with the seller, he came "slightly" down to earth from his $12500 listing price. He omitted he would take $8K as his bottom number. At that point I told him about a cream 70 300 that had been in a dealer showroom since new that I missed out on at a Mecum auction. It sold for $4750, and was running, and in better shape.
He said if it doesn't sell on eBay, he was going to get it running. I hope he has an extra $5k to $6k laying around.

I was prepared to go to $6K before I got there with the cash in my pocket. But after knowing what I have spent on other cars in the past, this one was going to cost me a lot more. I didn't offer $6K, and he would drop below $8K. We'll see what happens in the next 15 minutes the auction ends.
BTW, you still working on the Polara?

Yeah it is slow going but I am working on the verts. got a floor for the blue 69 but I am going to tackle the white one first and change it to an FC7 car and drive it!

My old white 500 or the 70 white one?

Well, it looks like the auction ended on the Black 300. Doesn't seemed to have been sold.

He's gonna fix it up someday.
Well, one more car goes to ****...:BangHead:

I can see that definitely happening if this car doesn't find a new home. It's been sitting outside since he bought it. I just hope he doesn't part it out and sell the shell to the demo derby guys.

The white Rose bowl vert I got from Dave is going to be the FC7 color change :painting_pink:(with Dave's blessing ). Your old 500 has not went under the knife yet for the blue one's parts as I wanted to get the white vert done first. But that is still the plan for it.
