Did this one already get discussed here? I do like the 71 SF GT's. $12,500 is obviusouly high but what is the # on a solid SW car like this? $6500? He says it must go make offer

I'd call it a decent grade 5 car in poor condition needing a complete restoration.,, $2000

Two grand! - that is all for a real SFGT? I guess the guys on this site are really cheap! Yeah the car has some rust and a bench seat and needs restoration, but it is complete I believe and even the very rare wheel trim rings and center caps are worth a lot.

It has good bits on it, true. But $12,500 for a car, that a complete restoration MIGHT bring $25K on its' best day finished with $50K in it to do it right??? That is the very definition of insanity! Two grand isn't being cheap, it's being quite realistic for a project car that needs EVERYTHING. Were I interested in a '71 SFGT, I'm going to find the nicest one available and jump on that. This one? Hell, no. Not at the money the seller has it very optimistically priced at. No way.

Still a grade 5 car and the $2000 takes that into account. If it were just a Fury then $1000 max or less. Eyes in the sky don't make for dollars in the pocket in paying for all the costs of restoration. Gotta keep your eye on the ball and hands on the budget.

8-10k$ IMHO
It is mostly complete and matching.
Has some rust and dents, all fixable.
GT letters on hood are missing, interieur is rough. Needs technical resto, too.
The colour only is guilty for me not having bought it, not the condition of the car or the price.
It is a SFGT (one of 375) and not just a Fury

I would say $5000 - $8000. I believe it would not take much to get it running when I talked with him a few years ago about it. Maybe a Fury III in that condition would be only $2000. I would not be surprised if the wheel trim rings and center caps alone brought $1500. No wonder Mopar guys are known as cheap by other collectors.

To me there is also a difference to a SFGT and a regular SF Hardtop, somewhere in between a 383 RR and a regular SF, but the market will make the judgement about WIW.

Definetely no 12 Grand but I still doubt it would sell only for 2 Grand. The Color is one of my favorites btw. in contrast to Carsten.

$12,500 - Acquisition price.
$2,000 - Shipping in the US
$10,000 - paint and body (absolute minimum)
$5,000 - Interior
$1,000 - Dash
$10,000 - rechroming/plating
$1,000 - Top
$12,500 - Miscellaeous (brakes, tires, hardware, whatever is not covered above)

$53,500 - Total restoration costs for a car that would bring $30K tops as a restored vehicle.

Now, how is paying anything more than $4,000 a good deal for this SFGT again???

If a guy were to do a half-assed "restoration" on this, he might get by with $20K for the resto budget; but again, you'd have $32,500 in a car that would be half-assed, and not bring the $32,500 at sale time.

BTW, I don't see any of you guys jumping on this "deal of the century"!

I didn't double anything; I asked "how is paying anything over four grand a good deal for this SFGT again?" I'd still give nothing over two thousand for it. And still, I'd be upside down in it at that point. It would be a great parts car.

No one is arguing that it isn't way overpriced but $2K is on the cheap side. I have three project cars right now I am rebuilding and I would value the car for sale at about $4K at the most.
