I was in 4th grade....
Me too. Middlebelt Elementary, Farmington Hills, Mi. sent us home early. Then we watched the funeral procession in b & w. The somber mood was similar to the days after 9/11.
Arlington cemetery and The Vietnam Memorial are the two most powerful sites in D.C. for me.

My mother-in-law went into labour hours after hearing about it...my Brother-Inlaw was born 11-24-63 a happy event after such a calamity.

I was on the down escalator in Ottawa's Carlingwood shopping center Sears store descending into a forest of TV's all on the same station reporting the news. I don't remember much of the early 60's, but that escalator ride never fades.

I took my Mother to Arlington in the late 90's and she just burst in to tears when she saw Kennedy's eternal flame. My mother was 34 when Kennedy got assassinated.
