I blasted a 300 Fender today, and then stood it on it's nose next to some new Full Qtrs for a 69 Camaro I'm also working on, and the 300 Fender is as big as the Qtr Panel for the Camaro, I was like Woah!

Which brings up a naging question of mine.
For that generation, is it true that although the Firebird and Camaro quarters look absolutely identical, they don't interchange?

For 67 and 68 they are almost identical except for the louvers. A friend fixed his girlfriend's 68 Firebird back in the seventies and I helped put a Camaro (he could get a Camaro, but not the Firebird) quarter panel on it. He cut the louvers out of the old one and spliced it into the new one. The car was painted black and looked really good when it was done.

She worked at a Pontiac dealership and the owner had her park the car right out front. He said they sold twice as many black Firebirds as anyone else because of that car sitting outside the showroom.

They do. Years ago there was a guy working around here who was quite the "fabrication artist". I looked at a '68 Camaro convertible he "restored" (nudge-nudge-wink-wink)that started out in life as a '69 Firebird hardtop.

So, was it the next generation Camaro/Firebird that I'm thinkng of?

If we ever find someone who knows what you're thinking of, we've found a guy who can invent the square peg that fits the round hole.

First gen Camaros always annoyed me. I guess I just think that they aren't nearly as good looking as just about anything else from that time, especially in 67 and 68. And who wants to go to a car show and park next to several HUNDRED identical cars. I don't care what your dream 1st gen is, theres already one out there EXACTLY like it. At least firebirds are a little more rare, but still. Its like buying a mustang. Even if you live in a town of less than 100 people, someone in town has one just like it. I know 3 guys in the area I live in with 1st gens rotting in their barns and they are all convinced its worth 20 grand. 1st gen Camaros are generally for the "383 Hemi" crowd as far as I'm concerned, people who like cars, but not enough to actually learn anything about them. But hey, maybe I'm just an *******, right?

Most car shows don't feature 2004 Cadillac Devilles so I'm still good on that one lol. Plus the custom metalwork on the rear makes it unique. Fun fact, 2004 was the last year for the hood emblem for cadillacs, in 2005 they moved it to the grille. Interesting on a caddy forum, not so much here lol
