Does anyone know a source for pictures of the 440 Super Commando? I'd like something that shows the dual snorkel and complete engine, preferably from a Plymouth brochure or advertisement.

As I recall the 440 received the unsilenced air cleaner with no snorkels. The 383 Super Commandos got the silenced twin snorkel cleaner.

The picture is a 383, using inner bolt hole on alternator bracket.

Still searching!
I'm wanting to have a poster made but clear pics of the early 440 with the dual snorkel are hard to find.
The 66 Chrysler 440 from a New Yorker (TNT) came with the dual snorkel.

All the years had little & big differences in appearance. As you found, high resolution pictures in the limited advertising of the day will be non-existent. Also, the advertising pics generally don't represent the as-built condition on real cars. Here's a couple pics from '66 & '68 brochures-

Poster? Problem is that "high-resolution" pictures didn't really exist back then. What we perceived as "sharp focus" pictures were nowhere close to modern hi-res images. So that when you find one of the old pictures, then enlarge it, most of the sharp edeges are really soft, by observation. Then, too, if you look closely at the larger posters from even the 1970s, the hard edges get to be softer the closer you get to them. Revealing a dot matrix of sorts rather than a line. Similar to a newspaper picture that is really "dots" of various sizes.

Some of those issues had to do with the way the pictures were printed. Several different "color separation layers" that when placed on top of each other, resulted in the picture we saw. Similar in concept to the way an ink jet printer works to produce a spectrum of colors using just 5 ink colors. FWIW

Seems like there are some posters in existence already? Of course, you can always chase some of the Miss Direct Connection posters or insulated tumbler sets.

Find this car and take your own HD pictures, think it's one that fits what you want, mab'be you can bribe him to paint the air cleaner the right color or Photoshop is your friend.
