Hello!

The slog continue. I finished the pass side door today...lock tumbler, weatherstripping, window fuzzies, guide channel lining, re-glued the front and rear chrome edges to the window, vapor barrier behind the door panel, door panels, arm rest, and beltline trim. The car came with repop arm rest pads and bases, and, of course, the pads were the wrong ones...9" instead of 10 1/2".

Does anyone make 10 1/2" pads in medium blue? I've seen them in black, dark blue, and red, but no medium blue.

I have the original pads. I painted them with GM medium blue interior trim paint I had on hand for my '68 Z28. The color matches PERFECTLY. I'd just re-use the original ones all around if the pass side front wasn't shot and crumbling.

I've attached a pic of the trunk weatherstripping profile. Does the ridge point to the inside of the trunk opening or to the outside of the opening?

Thanks...

Chris

The large, higher wave goes to the outside and maintains contact with the underside of the trunk lid. It's best not to use contact adhesive as it will not allow alignment of the strip after setting in place and don't close the lid to secure the strip as this may cause it to slide. I used high quality silicon and taped it down where necessary for a couple of hours. You do not want compression on the strip until after the adhesive has cured or the strip will try to shrink back to original size and affect the bond. Joining the ends of the strip can be done at the rear of the trunk with crazy glue or whatever you wish.

Oops, I did it wrong, i used trim adhesive and gently closed the trunk, got lucky I guess. Thanks for posting the proper way.
Every time I think I'm smart, someone smarter comes along.
Luckily I'm the toughest SOB on the planet, I still have that.:D
