Okay - here goes.

Looking into a nice driver-quality 66 Imperial. It sat for a couple decades in storage. Runs/drives fine but only with a lawn mower tank under the hood. Sender unit is probably clogged and tank is, at best full of crap(like some people), at worst could be rusty from condensation.

First choice would be to 'boil out' the tank with acid, vinegar, whatever. But if it's rusty, that's another matter. I know tanks are readily available for many B and some C body cars, but haven't found anything for a '66 Imperial. Does it share a tank and sender with another, more common car I can check for?

Check the part number in the 66 parts book to see if it's shared with C body cars.

Your gas tank likely can be repaired even if it's quite rusty. Look for a radiator/gas tank shop or Gas Tank Renu in your area.

Thanks Ross - I think I'll give them a call tomorrow to check locations and cost. New tank and sender is $400 +/-.

Just logged back in to say 'oops'. Seems I wasn't searching properly. Even though Imperial was its own brand, it works better when you use the word 'Chrysler' too. And drop the '19' from the year.

Tank for the 64-66 Imperial was shared with a 63-64 Chrysler & Dodge:

Sending unit shared with a 60-64 'C-Body'
