I had a '66 Impala back in the day and the thin dash pad was toast so I just took it off. It really didn't look all that bad without it..
It just sounded 'tinny' when the wipers ran without that sound deadening.
SO, does anyone know what is under the '66 Yorkers pad? I mean does it look crappy or could it go without also?

Another thing, are the fasteners hard to get to or are they clips?

I don't know what it looks like, but I personally won't like the look. I thought it was a pain to remove meaning you need to take the window out to replace it but if you are tearing it out...it's your car. There are pads out there, Murray Park, comes to mind if you want to replace it. There are guys that have done this so I'll let them chime in.

WOW... The glass needs to come out? I wonder what the seal costs? I've seen some on Ebay, but you'd have to soak them in Hot water and PRAY that you don't pop it..

BOY, just thinkin.. You'd have to have the car covered or in a enclosed area to cut the glass out, pull the seats out (so you can try and fit up under there), pull the dash cover, yell and scream that you broke (______) while under there, burned scalp, hair or new carpet from the drop light, call for the wife/dog/kids to pull 'ol dad out from under dash, send dash off for recovering, go to Chiropractor, call in sick a couple times, don't get ANYTHING done while you were off, Have UPS call and say your dash is "LOST", Searching for weeks finding, another that's in crapier condition than yours was, pay dearly for it, DELICATLEY package it up BETTER THIS TIME (more duck tape), UPS calls and says they found your box in Seoul Korea (and want you to pay extra shipping), swapmeet GUY won't take it back, Wife 'finds out' that more money has been "moved".., Dash place calls and says that 'the color that you ordered' isn't in stock any longer and that was from a catalog that you kept for 12yrs in the garage, NEW color is kinda close, but NOT EXACTLY how you pictured it in your MIND.. Wife yells that if you don't come in for dinner, she's giving it to the DOG, (because you've been out there for hours staring at the new dash thinking which one of your buddys you can bribe to come over and put it in FOR you and you can see your breath because it's sooo cold), and on the way out, your curly-China light bulb flickers and leaves you in the dark stopping you dead in your tracks, when your mind scrambles in fear to remember the path through all the years of CRAP you've accumulated, and if you should just find a 'soft spot' somewhere and sleep there for the night... You didn't like what she was making anyway, and it's HER dog...

Maybe it was all those meds? Sorry..

It took a little to pull up Murray Park. Searches kept coming up with all sorts of city parks. It's this one right? http://1962to1965mopar.ornocar.com/restoration-sources.html

Thank you so much.

this is a good read. LOL. I've had days like that.

Hopefully Rexus31 will chime in for you on this matter. He has done it all to his 65 300 and can steer you in the right direction.

Lets put it this way I am re-dyeing my dash on my interior restoration I am pulling the window because this is "easier". Rexus31 mentioned that the after market window seals are not correct. I bought my seal, NOS, from Brad's NOS is was not cheap either, but I feel it is very fair for NOS.

Errol don't get discouraged, but I LOL at your rant, I've had days that felt like that too. :occasion14:

Z, I don't get discouraged, ..I'm kinda UNIQUE. (the "warden" just gives me 'the look' for a few seconds and goes back into the house)
To begin with, I'm a baby of 9. LOTS of sibling rivalry, abuse and sharp objects.. (and hiding in the attic or basement, waiting for revenge. Back in the day, Visine (?) eye drops would cause dysentery! Hehehehe.. cough.. ehem..) Did you know that one can cut down/clear poison Ivy, chop up said remnants with gloves, mash down with alcohol to a clear solution, LOOKS JUST LIKE PERFUME!! I've heard it sprayed on a supervisors, managers, boss's keyboard or NICE NEW FABRIC CHAIRS....
Don't ask how I know this. I HAVE NO IDEA!! (and youngins waste thier time today with sittin in front of the booobtube)
But, it IS interesting how they ACT like everything is 'normal' with their junk, and try to walk in a straight line. "Doc, It seems to clear up on the weekends and flares up again on Monday afternoon.. I can't understand it?".

OK, back to the glass.

So, these guys purchased a NEW GASKET every time? How much per gaket?

I need to go out to the Yorker and take pics. Maybe 2morrow. It's not here at the Hacienda. (warden says that NOTHIN comes in UNLESS something goes!!)

I've used "Scotts Old Rubber" (no pun intended, or implied..) for some ol Honda cars, and they carry a wide spectrum of vehicles.
I've had to replace several windscreens and to me, it would be more advantages to make a gasket that covers the seam and leaves a channel for the 'cauking gun'
type of filler. (this stuff is GREAT! Used it for motor mounts. 4yrs and counting)

BUT, PITA meaning what? Does one have to pretty much take everything out from under there? Or, just the venting hose? OR?
"MY" headliner (what's left of it) is just hanging. SO, that means that ANYTHING that one touches under ______ will turn to dust and fall into the eye that ISN'T protected.
Then, as you squirm, the drop light falls and burns you..

I mean, I love comments BUT it really needs more.
I was under a '51-2 chevy trying to figure out how the venting 'funnels'(I call them that) that flatten out and blow through the thin split up next to the windscreen. And
everything else.. then, spent the next week b__hing about neck pain.
SO, is there 8-10-16 nut screws? what size? so one doesn't have to grab 4-5 different 1/4 drive sockets and drop the one that you need down the air conditioning drain hole, back out on the floor.... DANGIT! then the dang light burns you AGAIN..

To remove just the dash pad on a 66 NY'er you do not have to remove the windshield. To remove the whole dash assembly you do.

I was going to start a new thread about dash fitment options for a '66 NewYorker, but I'll just post here since it's relevant! My '66 NP dash pad is cracked, what year and model dash pads/tops will work? i.e. are the '65/'66''67 pads the same within the NP/NY/300 cars any Dodge or Plymouth models similar?
Thanks,RT

65 & 66 are the same. 67 & 68 are totally different.

It's probably gonna be around 6-700.00 just to get all that little chrome stuff redone.

Are there any 'access' holes/slots under the pad to get to 'things' from the top?
You know, like under a door panel. To get your arms in there, and get trapped like a mouse trap..

I'm gonna look for my shop manual I got of Ebay for Imperials and C-body's. Maybe That will show?

If someone chimes in in how to remove the dash and it isn't a huge PITA. I have a junk yard with an item you might be interested in and it is even blue with no cracks.

honestly I just put carpet on my new yorker, it doesn't look bad only when it gets dusty, other than having way too many holes to fill and not enough time to do it I just wrapped it in carpet....

It is in a 4 door I was there last year so there is a possibility that it is not there now, but I'm guessing the car has been there for at least 20 years already so chances are that it is still there.

Here is the problem, I'm probably slammed with work, until after Thanksgiving, if I can get over there before that to see if it is still there I will.
