Decided to start a new thread about the discussion in this thread:
For Sale - Have we discussed this 68 Newport 4 spd yet? | For C Bodies Only Classic Mopar Forum
I spent some time looking through the '67 parts manual and found the info for the rear "pretty thing".
First is the interior view of Chrysler 300 2DHT w/bucket seat option:
Next is the item distribution drawings:
Notice letter "E" in top and bottom drawings.
Now the distribution drawing legend:
Notice that there is a Shelf Trim Panel and Rear Seat Back Shroud.
And then the part number page:
"C" is Chrysler, "Y" is Imperial. 23-102-3 is the Shelf Trim Panel, 23-102-6 is the Rear Seat Back Shroud.
I'm assuming that this is all the same for '68, but keep in mind this is the '67 parts manual.
So the Shelf Trim Panel is used in standard bench seat interiors, and the Rear Seat Back Shroud is used in bucket seat interiors.
Hopefully, I eliminated all the grey area for everyone.
John
