OK, I've asked about 69 vs. 70, but wanted to confirm this one: quarter panels on the 70 and 71 are pretty much identical, no?

I've found a 71 sport roof quarter for my 70. While not ideal as I just wanted to remove at the seams, I think it won't require too much cutting. Mainly, I want to make sure there's no issues at the sail panel. The sport roof's looks like it's half the size of the formal roof. Anyone done this?

Want to make sure I'm not making a huge mistake here before pulling the trigger as it's not exactly cheap.

I don't believe that there is any difference. The parts book shows different part numbers for '70 & '71 2-dooe quarter panels but that could be a superceded part number. @Fury Pursuit may be able to confirm.

Thanks. Appreciate the help.

I also have decision to make whether to keep waiting for a formal roof quarter, or just deal with the extra welding and finally pull the trigger. I haven't been as diligent as I should have been the last couple years due to other projects, but it's been a long time.

Per Hollander
Quarter Panel, 1673, 1970-1971 same, 2-dr HT, 1971 also 2-dr sedan.
29 (formal) body is different, 1674, 1970-71.
An NOS right side quarter cost me $1100 for 1971 Fury 2-dr HT and I had to drive to Georgia to get that price.

If you have a formal top car and the quarter you are buying is for a hard top, I'd do A LOT of investigating before trying to install the hard top quarter.

Thanks. Yeah, I think I'm going to keep holding out for a formal quarter. I told the person I'd let them know tomorrow. It's just a way easier process if I have the correct one.

Well I found a NOS 70 formal roof quarter panel. They want $2200. I'm not sure there's a formal roof 70-71 Fury on the planet that warrants a $2200 quarter panel. At most, this should be $1000-1200. What's a sport roof quarter go for, $5000?

Sadly, I'll consider getting it because I haven't really found anything else. I guess on the plus side, I'd have very little prep work. haha.

Hi Tom,
I paid AMS $1100 for a 1971 NOS sport roof full quarter, so I agree with what the price should be. They reduced the cost from $1300 for me because I picked it up in Georgia and paid in advance. 10 hours drive each way, but I was guaranteed that shipping apes wouldn't damage it.

Maybe you can offer $1500 and offer to pick up up so they don't have to go through the hassle of pack and ship. Having my $1100 already in hand made AMS all smiles when I picked it up.

When you weld this full quarter, please do a thread. I'd like to learn. Ben
