I was talking with a member about taking the 3 speed trans off a 383 that's going to another member, and they suggested intake some pictures of the process. The FSM lays it out, and it's straightforward and simple.

Unbolt the transmission from the bell housing. 4 bolts, 3/8" rachet, 12" extension and short 9/16" socket.

Next up, remove the clutch fork, and sleeve. They came right out by hand, had to wiggle the fork slightly to remove.

Now remove the bottom cover of the bell housing, four short bolts, 3/8" rachet, 12" extension, short 1/2" socket.

If the engines been sitting for a while, you might find some rust, like I did.

Then remove the bell housing. Four bolts on the rear, same tools with 9/16" socket. Two additional bolts at the front bottom of housing. 5/8" socket.

That's as far as I got before rust became my enemy. Soaked the bolts with PB Blaster, and will remove clutch and pressure plate when the bolts are free.

I did it out of a car, obviously, and had all the room I needed. I imagine an A833 four speed would be similar in the steps for removal. Hope this helps anyone who doesn't have a FSM.
