where do i start

First make sure you have vacuum going to the switch, check where it connects at the intake manifold and under the dash. Vacuum controls all switching between modes.

First off do you have manual A/C or ATC II?

If you have ATC II I can't help much.

On Formal's with manual A/C there is a vacuum hose that goes through the firewall above the gas pedal. There should be a round one way check valve. Make sure you have it so the vacuum comes in the car. Check to make sure you have vacuum coming through the firewall. Then it goes to the vacuum harness.

All my cars have been manual A/C cars....sorry.

Someone on here might know something about ATC II.

Stan or Mr C. comments please.

Mr C that makes the whole system seem simple I'm ready to dive right in, now I just need the car, good info in layman's terms.

I'll bet the HVAC Engineering Division at Chrysler never really understood ATC II.
If ever there was an example of "designed by committee" ATC II would be it.

"What do we do with Arnold, the new kid?"
"I dunno. Give him all the documentation on ATC II. Nobody else wants it"

One year later, Field Service approaches HVAC Engineering:

"Hey, we're getting burned badly on ATC II warranty work and..."
"Hold on, let me transfer you to Arnold..."
