they look awfully similar, and my pass mirror is broken. also 83-89 fifth avenue
are the rear view mirrors the same 74-78 as a 82-87 new yorker?

The M body mirrors are all the same. The only difference is that they went electric in 88 or 89...but the mirror is identical in looks and will bolt on.
yes it looks the same but isnt the leg different from the formal c body one ?
which could mean that it might not be positioned right on the door - looking off & not giving proper field of vision ?

Yes, the M body base is totally different from the C bodies that used the square mirror top piece (71-78).
