Well i sold my 35" tires i had for my jeep so its a go on picking up the 67 newyorker with the 413 I'm sticking In the fury. Do i need to swap the torsion bars? Also apparently the newyorker has super stock springs in rear. Are those something i should hang on to? Apologies if my questions are a bit elementary. Im brand new to the mopar world!! Thanks guys!

Is the question that silly?

If your Fury had a big block originally you will be fine for crusing. If it was a 318 you might want to go to a bigger bar. Several choices & ways to get around replacing the bars. As for the SS springs. That's kinda up to you. They don't ride too good. Have pros & cons. What are your intentions for the car & your budget. That will help a lot in deciding what parts to use

It's really depends on that

I never understood the term "super stock springs" especially on a C body. I have always been a supporter of replacing your leaf springs if they are flat or worse, reverse arched. If I recall, you were doing something completely different with this car werent you?

Changing torsion bars is a loaded question..... Many guys will say replace them because ....... I didnt change them on my small block to big block swaps but I was a kid. I guess the answer is "have too"? No...... BUT after 48 years of service, why not?

I should also practice what I preach

The Torsion bars from a Chrysler won't fit in your fury... The Chrysler use the bigger stub frame it's a little longer. As for the springs. The guide bolt ie centering bolt on the Chrysler springs is also farther back. The springs will fit, but your axle would be farther rearward.

You know, I didnt read it as he wanted to swap from one car to the other but, after going back and re reading you could be right

You can relocate that center pin. An old drag racing trick. If you have to run a factory appearing tire. You can move the axel forward a little. Gives a bit more body over hang. Weight transfer. Tech guy won't never know if you aren't greedy. Helps the car hook on a small tire. I would never do this of course

Thanks, very helpfull gentlemen . I'll admit Im a lil disappointed that the torsion bars won't swap over as it was originally a 318 car. My immediate goal is to make sure its cruise worthy by spring. Ultimately it will have airide. (Oh what fun thats gonna be) For now I just want to cruise it on nice days .i think the newyorker can keep the superstock springs as im looking for a good ride. So I guess for now what would be the cheapest way to handle the torsion bars? Boneyard search or??

I would just leave the 318 bars in after all that was a poly so it's a heavy 318 Are you planning on aluminum intake or heads. Cause if you are That will take some weight off. They also make aluminum water pump housing and pump. Also a lightweight starter. So these things can knock quite a bit of weight off.

Where are you getting the idea the NY has SS springs? It probably has extra leafs due to the BB engine and extra weight of the NY over the Fury but I really doubt they are Super Stock springs. They apparently aren't a correct fit for your Fury anyway so changing them is a moot point or would be for me. I would however change to factory correct BB springs front and rear for a much better ride and handling

The car is coming from my mopar guys buddy, who incidentally is another Mopar guy. The previous owner put a 4 speed and 440 in it(which are long gone). Its got a or e body pedals, manual steering box and evidently the superstock springs. The gentleman im buying the newyorker from was very excited when he was telling about the springs and things.

There are a lot of guys that get excited about that Posi rear and that interceptor engine when talking Mopars yet they dont know any better

Ya know, I trust my buddies judgment. He says the guy knows his stuff, good enough for me. Either way I'm not using them. I want a floating fury with a lil oomph behind it. I didnt mean to make the guy sound like an idiot.

Oh no, i didnt want that to sound like i was puffing my chest or anything. Believe me I've ran into plenty of gum smackers in my time. I understand what polara is saying. My mopar guy is a machinist thats pretty kowledgeable about mopars, granted he doestn know much about c bodies . Hes got 63 swept line he's building with fully independent suspension with a pretty nasty 440.

I finally received an email response from dvap on big block fury torsion bars. They are asking 125 a piece + shipping. Is that reasonable? The fury funds are getting tight with all the machining/parts going into the 413. Any direction to better prices is greatly appreciated. ..... broke irishman!
