Hello,

I drive my car rather infrequently and I'd like to install a battery disconnect switch. I'm lazy so I'd rather not open and slam shut the hood each time so I've opted to go for a switch in the cabin vs. on the post.

I was thinking I could splice together the large and small wires grounded to the (-) terminal, attach onto that an extension cable, solder and heat shrink, run that single extension cable into the cabin, connect to a discount switch, then the cable exiting the switch I would grind off some paint and ground that somewhere inside on the firewall.

1) Does anyone see a drawback to this or a better way to do it, and 2) where on the firewall is the best place to pass a thick gauge cable? This is a 1973 Polara. The spot I ran my tach wire seems small.

Thanks for any input.
