Exactly. 3.23 gears (w/ SG) offer great pickup while maintaining highway drive-ability at low RPM. It is IMHO well worth the upgrade.
On a side note; Do they even make rear ends of a higher ratio without SureGrip?

Ok that makes sense to me now but only if you have an engine big enough to have the torque to muscle such a gear ratio with a sure grip.. 383 minimum I would guess.
318's no. Damn ,,now you got me pondering the what if's,,,,,,,,,,

thankyou

A sure grip is one upgrade that doesn't eat more gas and will give you a noticeable improvement. I wouldn't got with 3.55's or more unless you drive short distances. I can remember riding around in my friend's AAR with a 3.91 and it was great accelerating, but after that you would back it down. The the speed limit was 55 & it was not a big deal, today is different with traffic speed.

I get the picture now. Seems you can have the best of both worlds if you have the torque to pull it off.

It was really a requirement for me. No one gives you a dam chance where I currently live to pill out. And such a heavy car with lots of power and one wheel going I'd wind up peeling out alot. At least with both rears locking I can pull out with out having to spin my tires, I mean if want to it would like them both up but just takes off better and this car would never see rain or snow.

Other than burnouts, why?
Every single C-body with Sure-grip in 2016 stays in the garage when it snows. Mine would.

Then we're done here. :D
