I just received my missing C-Pillar trim in the mail from 64gmc a member here on the site. He also included an original 1966 Fury Operation manual. Again thank you! My question is, my car has a vinyl top and either the PO closed off the holes the C-Pillar trim mounts to, or it didn't have the holes?? Also, I need to get to the holes (if they're there) from inside the car. Were the vinyl top cars different from the hard top cars when it came to these trim pieces?
Can the headliner be removed from the C-pillars inside the car without messing things up? I see no other way of mounting these trim pieces. Thanks for any help on this.

I believe once you remove the surrounding trim and the interior courtesy lite the panel is held in with clips around the perimeter that will just pop out but be careful to pry evenly around the sides and on the clips because the panel behind the material is usually old and week and sometimes may need to be replaced and recovered(possibly using the old material to get it to match. It is like a door panel material.

I will look into it. Thank you. I'm guessing/hoping the PO just filled in the mounting holes.

There definitely were two holes there.
And yes, unfortunately, they were held on by clips accessible from the interior.
Personally, I would go with this:

I have a can of this and it holds like a mo-fo!

Alternatively, if you drill out the holes, use these emblem retainers instead of the clips from behind. Just pop it in.

Another option is to use a "barrel" clip. Most auto manufactures used these in a "blind hole", (no rear access), situation before the emblem/trim stick on days.

Google Au-Ve-Co and check their catalog.

Just be careful not to hit or bang the piece in place as that may dimple the sheet metal. A steady "push" should do the job.

Thanks guys. I just have one issue an that's measuring correctly to drill the holes form the outside. It's going to be really difficult to line up the trim at the right place without the holes!! I have the push on nuts that came with the trim. I'm going to give it a shot by remover the c pillar trim and side panel inside the car. Then I can just re-drill the holes once I can see them. Or maybe I can use cardboard to make a pattern of the c pillar trim for the hole locations so I can drill them from the outside.

I can take a few more pis with the tape measure and send them to you.

This in on there and it's smooth. The pic you sent me in the email looks to be like a bracket on the outside. Mine doesn't have that.
The trim I have now is stick-on,..that doesn't belong on the car! Why the PO did that, I have no idea?
What I could do (I don't want to) is use double sided 3m and stick them on, but if they fall off,..there gone.....

No there is no bracket. The pic I sent was were they put (welded) the roof on the car. I'd almost bet if u gently pull the top up just a bit you should see the weld seam unless to PO had it filled(smoothed)? If it was me I'd gently pull just enough of the top up and look to see if you see the holes. They should only be about a 1/2 inch or less from the body. If you see the holes use a small pick to find them through the vinyl top. If they a smoothed over then I'd remove the inner light panel and see if they are just bondoed over or welded shut. Either way you can use a small drill bit and mark your centers from the inside and drill the bigger hole from the out side.

If I need to I can use our car and make a template and mail it to ya?

That would be great if you don't mind, but wait until after the weekend. I want to see if I can find the holes. This is what I mean about the body bracket looking thing you sent me. My car doesn't have that at all and like I said,..it's smooth. I don't feel any of those jagged cuts or holes like you see in this picture.

Since your roof was smooth where it meets up with the quarter panel(to fit that aftermarket molding),I'd say that they probably used some bondo to smooth it out or seam sealer there.

Yeah, I think you're right. There's no seam there. It would be good to get the template from Mark.

I'll see if I can get some made for you this weekend and get them mailed to you.

Well, this isn't going to happen unless I remove the headliner in the back and all the trim. There is no side panels that come off. The headliner is one piece. I'll need to do this from the outside using those barrel clips or something else. Check out the picture.

I know, I hear ya. I'm afraid of removing the headliner in those areas. I would have to remove all the trim back there and then lift the headliner in that area. I don't want to mess the headliner up as it's perfect!
