Car Audio Recommendations. Let's hear them...

That just might be the ticket. I got one of them when I had to upgrade my work phone. My daughter immediately stole it. She used it one time we drove the convertible and wanted to listen to music off her phone. Not sure exactly how that all works but this thing is louder and clearer than any of the pep boys radios I've ever installed. Works perfectly no wires & it's chrystal clear and way louder than you'd actually ever need. Just turned it on and threw it in the backseat. Worth a look...

I thought you were supposed to wear these.

And I like that idea as opposed to hacking anything up. But I don't "rock". I listen to AM news on the way into work and Rush (Limbaugh, not the horrible band) on the ride home. I just want to add volume to the factory radio. I don't want to use my cell to operate anything. My cars are all daily drivers, and I'm not any fun.

No idea bud. I thought it was like iPod songs stored up on her phone but it was some kind of radio app. Kinda neat you can pick your own music. The sixties for me please. lucky she grew up listening to KSUN AM oldies in Az. Best part about KSUN was at sundown they pulled the plug - mid song. At sunrise they started back up - mid song. Good times.

Same set up that I use - the JBLs give a pretty good bass on the package tray. Was about $179 but I plan on using it until I save up enough to do a full secret conversion. Louder than any factory set up will ever be. I use Apple Music and have a 1300 song playlist so I just turn it on and put it down. I have no need for Pandora or anything but still works good with it. There’s also tons of radio apps and functions you can listen to your Sirius XM or CNN or Joe Rogen. Whatever may have you. Best part is I cary it between this and my 59’ Ford or my living room.

What is the sound quality of using say Pandora through your phone and via Bluetooth to your amplifier compared to a CD with no Bluetooth.? Is the phone + Bluetooth just a poor quality compressed sound?
I am not going to hack anything on my Fury. Thought of upgrading the guts of my stock am to am/fm with an auxiliary input or Bluetooth.
I had thought about re-creating my old days with a couple of 6 by 9's in the rear deck with a good sized amp/preamp with Bluetooth located under the seat. Could even run radio stations from my phone through it. I donno....I still enjoy listening to the other stereo in my Fury...the 440 dual exhausts!!

Although you’re always going to have “some” loss of data and clarity through wireless, any modern Bluetooth system worth its salt in the last 8 years should be able to easily do the job. So much so that the loss of clarity would be negligent if minuscule at best. Maybe a dog or an owl could hear the difference but certainly not a human.

I'll have to search again for the right model...the ones I saw on Amazon were cheaper...around 79.00...must be different sizes so some more research on my part. I just got a new phone S9 plus...think an MP3 download app or Spotify might work as a nice audio remedy with this JBL for now.

I have a Bose bluetooth speaker about the size of a brick and 4 times as heavy. It'll fill the entire basement or garage with great sound and booming bass. I'll run itunes from an iphone, ipad or my pc. which also has sirius/xm.
Also purchased a small round JBL bluetooth speaker size of a donut for travel. Not as nice sounding as the Bose obviously but is much lighter in a carry-on bag.

This is my suggestion for amp and speakers. This will be much better than what you have but still boring and cheap. According to crutchfield 3.5" fit in the dash, 6.5" in the doors, and 6.5 or 6X9 in the back deck. I have no idea of depth limitations so I'll be safe (boring) with my choices. Usually with minimal power I suggest high sensitivity speakers (>90db) but since you said you want an amp you have some flexibility. However I will suggest high sensitivity speakers anyway. Probably all for <$250. The big difference from what you suggested is that instead of 2 speakers in the doors and 2 in the dash I suggest a set of components for the front. The 6.5 midbass goes in the door. The small tweeter goes in the dash. Now you don't need a 6 channel amp you need a 4 which is very common.

There are many options and improvements you could make here. I'm just giving 1 possible answer to your question. I'm sure others will suggest changes. You could get even cheaper with more basic speakers. Or you could get a llittle more serious. Either way it will be an improvement over what you have. I've put stuff in most of my cars over the years but my Fury has nothing and its on the short list after the long list gets done. And it will have bluetooth connection more power and a sub. But be tastefully done. Mostly hidden.

Amp - its very small and may very well fit under your dash. You will need at least 8ga wire and a fuse from battery to amp and from amp to ground. It accepts your speaker wires from your existing head unit (hi-level inputs). You will have to run speaker wires from the amp to the rear speakers and to the front xover. Then from the xover to the dash tweeters and mid-bass in the doors. You will appreciate the power level when the tops are off.

Another similar amp option - I own the 2 channel version

Front Speakers - component. The tweeter goes in the dash in place of the 3.5". You will have to make an adapter (or buy one). The 6.5 midbass goes in the doors. There is a small xover that can be mounted under the dash. I'm installing these right now in a civic.

That's a Lotta readin', but thank you!

Not making this up. I'm 1/2 deaf and I couldn't understand what was coming from my truck radio over the ambient noise in the cab.

I mounted this on the dash and everything then broadcasts crystal clear.
PA horns are designed to clip the low and high sound frequencies that come from noise. It keeps the midrange only which is perfect for talk radio. It was the first time I could hear the vocals to Led Zeppellin.

Yah, it would look pretty dorky in your car, tho...

Well, in my case
if you don't like rush the awesome band and you listen to rush Limbaugh then you are not any fun as you state. too bad

I like both. Sometimes I'm fun and sometimes I'm not. Classic Rock and AM Talk, yeah, I know...go figure!:)

If you just want more volume, a pair of higher wattage replacement speakers in the rear deck and dash, in the same holes as the originals would be how I would do it. A small 4-channel power amp with line level inputs, located in the trunk or under the seat, to power the new speakers. Unless you just want bass from them, I wouldn't bother hiding speakers behind carpet in the doors. I don't think you'll hear them.

This set up would be "old school" and simple.

It would be great if the sound quality of blue tooth is good and be able to use your phone with the amps under the seat. Also to remind me of my youth it would be great to have some really good quality 6/9 speakers but with antique Jenson speaker grills.

Actually it's kind of a joke... I have a buddy who is a huge Rush (the band) fan. He's always trying to convince me "they're so deep man... you know the meaning of this song, right? Like duuude..." So I always tease him. In real life, I'm fairly indifferent to the band. Now it's just habit I guess.
