I have a 71 New Yorker with a floor mounted cassette player. Any referral for repair services welcomed. I live near Indianapolis IN.

This is original to my New Yorker. Only problem we had with it was the first one was stolen when the Chrysler was approx a month old. The replacement worked fine until the belts started slipping. Looking to have it serviced.

BTW the case should be the same color as the interior plastic. If its black, it's a replacement unit. (Unless the interior is black.) I assume quite a few were stolen back then.

This guy with Tayman is the only one I knew of - please let us know if you find anyone. Cassettes seem to be enjoying a revival, stangely, but it hasn't translated into better availability of restoration or service. The original factory units, with their matching plastic surrounds, are quite neat, but nearly impossible to find.......

the microphones are the only thing that show up often

the same thing goes for the 1st Mopar CD players 1988-91 that played through the radio
and were separate from it. Impossible to find someone to repair them. A $1,200.00 option
so not many built.

Looking for the rest of the cassette parts. Still looking for the metal base. The long cord went under the carpet and attached to the player and radio.

To test the unit it must be attached to a radio. I purchased this spare many yrs ago for $20. Off ebay. Prices have gone up. Notice the plug for the cassette attachment. Apparently this plug is used when no cassette was ordered. The two small boxes (only one needed) are for stereo.

Found the metal base for the cassette player. Will hook it up to a radio and speakers and see how well it works.

The reason I asked if it's for a fury is because of the faceplate which is different from the one for the New Yorker. See pics. Radios are the same.

The reason I want the cassette player to work is because I want to use my android phone with it. I have two other cars with cassette players and use the following with my phone. Found this at a good will store for around $2. seen others on ebay for $10. It only works with an android. I Phones have a different connector.

I dont think the cassette player belts will matter when using the android.

They call this the shorting plug - it closes the output circuit.

Hooked the cassette player up to a radio and speakers. Using my cell phone and the above reference adapter. It worked. Will start the search for belts. Will try cassette tape next, if I can find one.

It does not work with a regular cassette tape. As remembered, the belts are bad. Or possibly the motor drive is bad.
