I replaced the valve cover gasket, and that fixed 90% of the oil leak, so now I can see that the plug between #5 & #7 cylinders has a tiny leak as well.

Pretty sure I can get the old one out, but between the steering coupler and the master cylinder, I don't think I can get straight at it to put the new one in.

So unless there is a trick to this that I don't know, my thought is to use one of the expanding rubber plugs. Has anyone done that in a 452 head? Is there enough depth inside the hole for the plug to seat properly?

I used one of those expandable plugs on the 5.9 in my last old Dodge pick up and it worked great.

I had 2 leaky freeze plugs on my original 516 heads before I restored the car. I used the expandable rubber freeze plus on both; they worked great and were still leak free when I tore the car down about a year and a half later.
