Didn't know Ma made those.

The only reason'z I don't own an '87 turbo wagon are 1. I currently own 3 vehicles and the garage iz ah 2 stall. And 2, at my age I've learned my *** only fitz one chair at ah time and I run out of energy waxin' the lug nutz on more then what I currently have in the stable, Jer

There were no turbo Omni's in 84. my mistake. Barney hows your car doing?

I know Pal but we both know that their were turbo J-bodys in '87 and they look identical to K-wagons to the untrained eye. Scamp iz still in Philadelphia. Haven't talked to "wrench" since before Thanksgiving. I'm hoping to pay the ransom and get it back by Easter, Stay tuned and pray for me and thanks for asking lol, Jer

Yep 84 was first year for the turbo. I worked at a chrysler plymouth deslership way back then in 1986. Never saw a turbo minivan back then. Officially these were avail 2 years only 89/90, unless somebody made one.

Turboomni i did pretty much the same setup you have. Forged crank, forged full floating rods, forged JEs from FWDperformance, cromemoly side plate for the A555, i only went with +20 injectors. I hogged out the intake and used a holley throttle body from a 3.8 V6 off an imperial, just swapped the cable crsnks and sensors off the old one. I didnt go with a G head "bathtub head". I got a later model swirl port casting. I also went with a roller cam from a 2.5 dakota, and a garrett T3T4 from turbocity.

Your omni has the seperate LM / PM setup, i did the socketed eprom on my 87 lebaron too, same setup. In 1988 the combined the LM/PM into one computer the SMEC. I got the socketed smec computer for my 88 z. Made friends with a guy at mopar flight systems in PA. He socketed my smec computer, and gave me a bunch of custom programmed chips including the stock program, and the mopar performance turbo ll program. He also rebuilt a second computer for me with the stock tune unsocketed.

J body coupe/connie were based off the G body daytona. Same dash, console floor pan firewall etc.

Chrysler Laser G body was dropped after 1986, lebaron coupe connie introduced in 87 built alongside the restyled 87 daytona, same chassis, dash everything.

Lebaron sedans, and wagons were K car based. Different animal almost altogether aside from the driveline.

Lebaron GTS / dodge Lancer was also different from the K as well.

I was waaay into these fwds for about 10 years.

My Omni Had a separate Logic Module/ Power Module. Back in the day Mopar made a "Super 60 " wiring harness specifically for converting to the newer SMEC type computer system for L bodies. I bought one and installed it when I was building my car. Unfortunately the Super 60 computer was not very successful for me as it was not a race only car. I have now a socketed Smec and a cal from Cindy at FWDP. Had a Maxon computer too . Did have the S60 cam from crane but a few years ago I changed it over to a from a slider cam to a roller Taft S60 and now to a roller TBI cam.
I converted the Omni's 525 tranny to a 555 +chrome molly plate with custom axels cause I knew the 525 would not live long. Did you see the 9 second glht vid I posted awhile ago? It has the 555 and he beats on it hard. Great tranny with those Getrag gears. Boy I haven't thought about this stuff in years. Nice to hear about it from others who are familiar with these cars.

I used to deal with cindy a lot too. I added a buick GN AFPR to my fuel rail too. Also rebuilt my A555. New scnchros, rings, stops, bearings etc. Got the solid bobble strut from Johnny Spiva at polybushings.com a couple of the polyurethane suspension pieces he did, he prototyped for my car. Late 1988. G body rear axle panhard rod bushings, rear axle swing arm bushings.

I remember the super 60 setup in the MP catalog. Went to the shelby dodge 25th anniv years ago in vegas. Guys were starting to build hybrids back then.

Remember Gary Donovans silver turbo K car? I didnt see the vid you posted. These were fun cars, but i think new muscle cars kinda killed it for their popularity, plus the import guys wouldent want a domestic.

Yes I bought the Poly Bushings from him years ago and I know Gary too. He is getting back into the turbo mopar stuff again. I also knew Gus Mahon of the turbo minivan fame ,may he rest in peace. He was a nice guy and helped me put my first bleed on the wastegate at New England drag way in the late 1980's with the only new car I ever bought . A 86 GLH turbo 1 that I drove into the ground.
Sorry Commando and Moparmat. We kinda hyjacked the thread.
I will post the 9 second 5 speed Omni vid again for you and will try and stop talking.
Maybe this video will give you incentive to get your car done!!
2.5 common block
38 psi boost

What's the idea behind that FWD sticker. Another bow to avoid any abstruse court cases in case of an accident ?

Same dash piece used in column shift K cars. Column indicator went in there. If floor shift they put the front wheel drive labelled plug in the hole.

And what's with the speedo that goes to 140??? Was this a cop car that Moparmatt and Turbo omni where wrenching on???
My sister had a early 80's TC3. Great car for the day. Prob the equivalent of a /6 duster from a decade earlier.

Then is the half full marking on the fuel gauge in Liters or gallons ? :D
