A bank will take them.
Can't remember the last time I've seen one so it doesn't seem to be much of an issue.
I haven't seen one in decades, last I saw them was in a bill changer for the subway up in Massachusetts where the above ground suburban subway cars at a station which used to take tokens that were worth 25¢ was replaced(?) by new collection boxes that took regular coinage as the fare had gone up (skyrocketed) and didn't take bills. Now I see the buses here take bills (and soon 'Tap & Pay') for a swipe pass and 20 years ago I talked to someone from NYC when the swipe cards were introduced and he said a all day subway pass was like $20... plus also he said the dead cards were littering the ground everywhere.

Didn't someone here lose an Imperial or NYB that way?
Yeah if you watch the movie 'Freightened The Real Price Of Shipping' you would be aghast at the amount of containers that go overboard from ships and for that matter the number of ships that go to the bottom on a daily basis.
We've all seen the pictures of tons of Nike sneakers washing up on shore right?

Let see if this will work.

Anybody up in the Wilmington North Carolina area hear about this?

There was another explosion at a Military explosive supplier in Tennessee where 19 workers are unaccounted for.
