The 4dr Belvedere I just got has a back half 61 only alternator.
Oddly enough I have a 61 parts car that has a front half 61 only alternator!?….
I will have to consult the Fix your Plymouth book as to how to make 1 out the 2?

Take the brushes out first and then it's just the screws holding the housings together.

If you want to take the pulley off, you'll need a puller (obviously)

I would change the bearing in the front housing (behind the pulley) as that does go bad. The rear bearing doesn't get much wear so that's usually good.

....if you just want to do this as quick and easy as possible you could leave the pully on, pull the 3 case screws and brushes, separate the front half with the rotor still in it from your parts alternator and put it as an assembly into your new cars rear half with the stator still attached...throw some grease into the rear bearing....assuming both units are ok and charge...if you dont want to re-use the rotor from the parts alternator remove pully with puller (auto zone free rental...think they have it listed as a p/s puller)...looks like your year has 3 nuts to hold the front bearing retainer (later ones have 3 tabs that have to be unclipped from the case)...then the rotor can be tapped or pressed out with the bearing still on it ....at this point you can put on a new bearing(its pressed on... NAPA has them if you're in a hurry)...believe right way is press bearing into case, install retainer, then press rotor into bearing with a tube on the inner part of the race so you dont hurt bearing...same with rear bearing its just driven into the case...dont drive it in too far or it will hit the end of the shaft...as long as you leave the stator and rear case half together life is simple...if you want to separate them the stator needs to be unsoldered from the diodes and things get more likely to get damaged
