Fresh Air Vent Cable

Does anyone know how to get the fresh air vent cable control knob off a 1966 Fury III? I have it disconnected from the vent door but have no idea how to get it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

There is a nut on the back behind the dash.

I had the nut off, but the plastic shaft was deformed and would not come through the hole. I trimmed it down and it came through. Thanks for the input.
