Garage is Done

Mdh157, Congratulations on your new garage. It really looks great. Are you planning on putting heat in there for the winter?

@mdh157 I'm no thermal expert, but in the event you have a couple hundred extra bucks to throw at the garage, check out Reflectix at Lowe's/Home Depot. I added a layer to the ceiling of my shop, and it made a 10 degree difference to the internal temperature! It's essentially foil-coated bubble wrap, but it's a great radiant barrier for blocking out summer heat, and retaining heat in the winter.

mdh157, I see you're from Carlisle. Are you planning on going to the Chrysler show in July? I'll be there.

Was wondering....
How many cots will fit in there come July...

I assume this go on top of the insulation in the attic? I have not got to insulation yet on my shop, just finished electrical and now working on exterior siding, but we get some pretty cold winters up north and any product that can help like that I may consider.

Yes.....but as if right now i am working midnight shift during that time so we will see how it pans out. No big deal since it will prob be raining, rains every freaking day around here.

It'll be all worth while once you get it set up... maybe find the right car to park in there...

No problem there Jeff. Mark, leave the key under a rock nearby. I have a new 67 Polara convertible, tools and a bunch of parts ready to move in...... :poke:.

Seriously, congratulations Mark. It's been a long time coming.

Be careful!!
AMHIK

I originally had planned on 12' wide x 12' high doors front and rear for my shop, but cost of new insulated doors was going to be over $10K!! So started looking for used doors, found a local company that was doing some demo work and they had pulled a bunch of big insulated over head doors. I got a 16'W x 12'H for the front, and a 11'W x 12' high for the rear....paid $1200 for the pair!! Only cost me another 350 for chain drive lift mechanisms, and another couple hundred in misc parts...hard to judge what you need when your loading up from boxes laying on the ground.

But I'm sure glad I went with the big wide doors....makes pulling in and out a lot less stress full. ;)
