WANTED Gas Tank! For 1965 Sport Fury

Looking for a gas tank for the 1965 Sport Fury. Any advice on a cross-reference list for parts would be nice too. I am thinking that the tank for the Sport Fury should have been the same design on some other C Bodies in '65, no? Even one that is not in great shape but would allow me the correct dimensions and port placement to fashion a true replacement.

get ahold of spectr gas tank. they're the only suppler of tanks in n. america. sould be able to fix you up. i bought mine for a chy 68 300. i own a 66 sport fury. a 30 gal. tank is what my straps where for. sending unit and all was right at 4 bills

I have one for a 65 imperial with straps , if that helps .

i bought mine thur rock auto and it was a 23 gal. not 30 gal as i said earlier. the tank and sending unit with shipping was 4 bills.

Thanks for the ideas. Unfortunately the specs are far off Spectr and at Rock Auto for the 65 fury. One was too deep for the frame setup and the other, the neck is rear facing where the 65 sport fury is left fill, although the description guaranteed fit. have bought and sent back 3 different tanks thus far. Fitment way off. Unless someone can come up with a correct tank, looks like I am going to have to stencil the cavity and beg my shade-tree engineer friends to fabricate a tank from scratch.....though that might actually be pretty interesting!

Are the side and rear fill tanks the same shape or close? Maybe you could cut out the side fill portion of your tank and weld it into the rear fill tank after closing the rear fill.

There was a thread here a while back that showed a readily available 67 C-Body tank would fit a 65 Monaco but those are both rear fill tanks.

i have a pretty nice one from a 1968 new yorker. pm me if interested.

I have one, sender and all. It has two lower taps that were installed in the lower front of the tank probably for 3/8 feed and return and the sender is new. I also have the fill tube and vent extensions as well as a new fill seal. It's side fill and original with a few dents that can be easily removed. This tank is clean inside and steel unlike modern replacement tanks. This is an OE tank with straps and will fit a 65 Fury with no hassle whatsoever.

have a 68 rear fill tank off of a 300, that is complete, also will be acquiring a 66 s fury, and 65 4 dr. on labor day to dismantle
