I spent the past few days cleaning up a set of alloys to mount my winter tires on for my 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan.

They were kind of corroded from previous winter driving and a bunch of clear coat knicked up with salt under the clear that was present.

With some effort, sanding discs, and a brass wire wheel cleaned up ready for paint and clear coat today.

The weather was perfect for my outdoor spray booth then a solar bake for about 4 hours they are ready for the tires!

I used the Duplicolor silver metallic engine paint and engine clear coat.
Hope it lasts for a few years and should be an easy touch up down the road
I’ll apply a couple of good coats of wax as well if I feel up to it

Stay away from curbs and I bet that holds up better then the OEM finish. Seems like they all flake off prematurely. Also, be glad the are actual rims and not chrome cladding over a steel wheel.

Don’t go jinxing me now! LOL!

Nice job. Thanks for sharing the procedure. I have a set to mount on my '05 Grand Caravan that could use that same treatment.
