The rainy weather that spawned all this trouble has stopped for a while and we've gotten some nice dry days, I've been airing the car out and now it is nice and dry in there. Which is to say, I have not had the opportunity to see if my repairs have staunched the seepage but next time it rains heavily here I will be reporting back.

Incidentally, ever had water dripping to the area behind the floor vent?

I also have water somehow getting into this cavity behind the driver side foot well vent, it seeps in and drips down the stem upon which the flap pivots and drips into the floor well. It's not a horrible leak but it's annoying. I don't suppose anything short of removing the dash pad and looking in there would solve it?

No, I've never had that problem. It could be from the same source given it runs the width of the car.
