How to change rear axle seal on 1962 Dodge Custom 880

How do you change the rear axle seal on a 1962 Dodge Custom 880?

I would imagine you change it the same way you would any 8.75 rear, with one exception, you need to remove the tapered drum, and that takes a special tool. I have that tool, but unfortunately, am no where near you.

Once the drum is removed I would think that all else is the same.

Also remember that you should replace all of the seals on that side if you pull it apart.

While there's no FSM listed here for a '62 Dodge, there one for a '62 Chrysler that you can download. The axles should be the same. That will answer most of your questions.

Now is the time to upgrade to 65 and newer side axles and related parts & hardware.. The castle nut type are a PITA.
