How to service A/C?

That sounds good! However, the system will underperform with the R-12 condenser. It may not even be noticeable, except in high outdoor temperatures…
Your right, but he was asking what to do about a existing system. Then the barrier hose thing came up. If I was doing it for a paying customer yes, barrier hose all the way, and a triple pass small tube condenser. For a home brew 134 conversion, o rings, TXV, oil, and dryer

Success -- the A/C works. Thanks a lot to all for the info provided.

I now need to make sure that the condensated water runs to the right places. I noticed a few drips falling just right of the gas pedal after a couple of hours of running the A/C, and the carpet at that spot was slightly wet when I took a break. Never had that happen before so… I won't be using the system much till I get a chance to figure out if everything is draining properly. Advice and recommendations are highly welcome, especially "easy checks" for blocked pipes before having to remove the dash.
