I'm planning to install an original hood to cowl seal on my Polara. Overall decent condition but a little stiff. I've seen some ideas on line, has anybody here had any luck?

Rubbers are cheap man. Buy some new ones.

Heck they even give them out for free at a lot of clinics ... just grab a handful

Bead blasting will softening the rubber. Then clean with ruglyde.

DO NOT use silicone or brake fluid on rubber. And anyone with any knowledge has already thrown the Armorall in the trash.

correct. the smoooooooth stuff.

I hate the pumice or orange based stuff for my hands and always go for the original gojo goop stuff with lanolin for the garage bar :).

Have even used it to clean up vinyl interior stuff and seats with a lot of grime

LOL, might be another option. New thread on the way.

It's probably the glycerin and lanolin in the hand cleaner that does the trick.

Mequires and Mothers sell a vinyl cleaner/conditioner. I used it on 50 yr old seats with pretty good results. The Monaco seats don't feel as fragile or brittle.
